trunk group degradation alerts every evening 2 Years, 6 Months ago
ever since setting up prognosis i get degradation alerts every night from some of the trunk groups randomly, followed by associated route pattern and DS1 alerts and then status up alerts about 2 mins later. not a huge problem, just wondering if anyone could tell me why this happens? there are no alarms on the pbx at these times and i dont believe i have anything scheduled either. how does prognosis define when a trunk/route pattern/DS1 board is degraded?

Run change system-parameters maintenance command from the PBX. Check start / stop time and saving translations (=y). Are the alerts from VoIP monitoring occuring coming during this time ? My guess is save translations temporarily is taking a "few" trunks offline (you can check this by run status trunk n) which is causing these alerts.

Hi
I'm having the exact same issue and finding it extremely frustrating.

The degradation alarms occur about 20 minute after the save translation. The command does NOT take the trunks offline, it would be ridiculous if it would do so. There are no CM alarms or warnings for that period of time so why does prognosis send alarms? Also, there are no snmp traps sent during that time period, so again I ask why would prognosis alarm for that period?

I'm sure some information is being sent through rtcp to prognosis but the applications sensitivity and filters should be adjusted - these are clearly dummy alarms.

Its not easy waking up each morning to about 50 "spam" mails (3,4 trunks with about 10-15 route patterns....)

Thank you for the feedback. The suggestion regarding sensitivity of alerts is being investigated and will be fixed.
