Thanks for this.

When i ran:

$ ..\ircnfutl.exe UPDATE_CONF DispatchManagerConfiguration.txt

I did not get a 'Static Config Updated Successfully' message, the CMD window just accepts the command and then starts a new command line

The txt file I updated has definitely saved the changes I made.

The default DISPMAN configuration is found in: %PROGNOSIS VoIP Monitor%\Server\Configuration\DispatchManagerConfiguration.txt

You will find the following lines in the txt file:

MAIL ( DefaultEmailService, 127.0.0.1, SMTP, from@domain.com )
PERSON ( EmailAdmin, MAIL, DefaultEmailService, to@domain.com )
GROUP ( EMAIL, 1, EmailAdmin )

The first indicates the SMTP server the emails are going to be sent from, the second indicates the address that emails will be sent to, the third indicates who belongs to which group profile (as I mentioned above).

Now update the MAIL line to use your valid SMTP server ip address (and a proper email address) as source, and the PERSON line to use your target email address as destination.

Example:
MAIL ( DefaultEmailService, 10.100.1.5, SMTP, server@prognosis.com )
PERSON ( EmailAdmin, MAIL, DefaultEmailService, support@prognosis.com )

Now run the following command from Prognosis configuration directory (%PROGNOSIS VoIP Monitor%\Server\Configuration) to update DISPMAN offline

$ ..\ircnfutl.exe UPDATE_CONF DispatchManagerConfiguration.txt

After making sure that you see "Static Config file Updated Successfully", restart Prognosis and try the "Test email" again.

Hi there,

If you have configured the Dispatch Manager (DISPMAN) correctly and your SMTP server is up and running, none of the messages will be in the queue (but you will not get any notification indicating this). You can only check whether your target email receives them.

The 'message queued successfully' message indicates that the command has been run successfully and an email is being sent. If the above are configured properly you should get an email immediately. Otherwise, while this email is being sent the subsequent test emails will all be queued. The Dispatch Manager will attempt to send every email for 5 minutes. If it has not been successful after 5 minutes, it will be aborted and the next message(s) in the queue will be processed. You will not be able to see this queue since Prognosis VoIP Monitor does not support custom display to show this record.

That means, to clear the queue simply wait until all of them are aborted or you can restart Prognosis.

FYI, the "test email" command sends a testing email with header "PROGNOSIS Test Email" and body "Test email from PROGNOSIS VoIP Monitor". The target destination is 'EMAIL' profile as specified in DISPMAN.

HTH,

Yes you could do that easily by copying the historical data located in Prognosis installation configuration directory (%PROGNOSIS VoIP Monitor%\Server\Configuration).

The historical data lives in directories which are prefixed with "AV-". You can copy only the ones for your reports or other troubleshooting historical data as well. These can be placed in the new Prognosis installation configuration directory.

Hi Kazi,

As per Paul's question whether the databases are running on your system, see http://voicequality.com/component/option,com_kunena/Itemid,21/catid,2/func,view/id,480/limit,25/

There's also some extra information in the thread if your databases are not actually running.

Let me know if that helps.

That is very strange. I believe we are talking about the "AV-PROGNOSIS Licensing - \NODENAME" display, am I right? Having just tested it myself: I added and removed some PBXs, the license count required is being updated as I apply the changes.

Can you confirm that when you add a PBX the license count is updated as well? Does this only happen when removing them?

If you have to restart Prognosis server in order for this changes to take effect, the only thing I can think of is that the supposedly removed PBX has not really been removed yet (changes has not been applied).

I assume I can just do a fresh install of the application, configure the connections change the path on the PBX, and apply the license. Seems like you are in a different situation, could you provide me with more information:

1. A screen shot of the log-in webpage, including the error message displayed.

2. A copy of IRFAX.

3. Whether the new user is a domain user?

4. Whether the PVM server station is in the same domain as the new user?

Hi,

In theory, it will make things better to upgrade tomcat to the latest version, and it may work all right with PVM.

However, it is quite likely that not all of vulnerabilities can be handled even in the latest version, and may contain potential conflicts with PVM. As a result, it is not recommended.

As we were already aware of the issue before, the next release of PVM, which is coming soon, will not use tomcat as a web server.

Hope the information is useful for you.

Thanks & Regards

Here are the reported vulnerabilites. Let me know if you need more detail.

Apache Tomcat Windows Installer Insecure Password Vulnerability	8080	tcp	"DESCRIPTION
Apache Tomcat is prone to an insecure-password vulnerability.

Attackers may exploit this issue to obtain administrative access to the application. Other attacks may also be possible.

The following are vulnerable:

Tomcat 6.0.0 through 6.0.20
Tomcat 5.5.0 through 5.5.28

"
Apache Tomcat WAR File Directory Traversal Vulnerability	8080	tcp	"DESCRIPTION
Apache Tomcat is prone to a directory-traversal vulnerability because the application fails to sufficiently sanitize user-supplied input.

Exploiting this issue allows attackers to delete or overwrite arbitrary files within the context of the webserver.

The following versions are affected:

Tomcat 5.5.0 through 5.5.28
Tomcat 6.0.0 through 6.0.20

"
Apache Tomcat SecurityManager Security Bypass Vulnerability	8080	tcp	"DESCRIPTION
Apache Tomcat is prone to a security-bypass vulnerability.

Successful exploits will allow attackers to bypass certain security restrictions and gain access to arbitrary files and directories in the context of the web server.

This issue affects Apache Tomcat versions prior to 7.0.4, 6.0.30, and 5.5.30.

"
Apache Tomcat 'Parameter Inefficiency ' Denial of Service Vulnerability	8080	tcp	"DESCRIPTION
A vulnerability has been discovered in Apache Tomcat 5.5.x before 5.5.35, 6.x before 6.0.34, and 7.x before 7.0.23, which allows for denial of service via an inefficient method of handling parameters. This allows attackers using crafted requests with multiple parameters and values to cause excess CPU consumption.

"
Apache Tomcat 'HttpServletResponse.sendError()' Cross Site Scripting Vulnerability	8080	tcp	"DESCRIPTION
Apache Tomcat is prone to a cross-site scripting vulnerability because it fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input to the message argument of calls to the 'HttpServletResponse.sendError()' function. The messages passed are used as the reason-phrase of HTTP response headers and may not be filtered for illegal characters.

An attacker may leverage this issue to execute arbitrary script code in the browser of an unsuspecting user in the context of the affected site. This may help the attacker steal cookie-based authentication credentials and launch other attacks.

The issue affects the following versions:

Tomcat 4.1.0 to 4.1.37
Tomcat 5.5.0 to 5.5.26
Tomcat 6.0.0 to 6.0.16

"
Apache Tomcat HTML Manager Interface HTML Injection Vulnerability	8080	tcp	"DESCRIPTION
Apache Tomcat is prone to an HTML-injection vulnerability because it fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input before using it in dynamically generated content.

Attacker-supplied HTML and script code would run in the context of the affected site, potentially allowing an attacker to steal cookie-based authentication credentials or to control how the site is rendered to the user; other attacks are also possible.

This issue affects Apache Tomcat versions prior to 7.0.6, 6.0.30, and 5.5.32.

"
Apache Tomcat Host Working Directory WAR File Directory Traversal Vulnerability	8080	tcp	"DESCRIPTION
Apache Tomcat is prone to a directory-traversal vulnerability because the application fails to sufficiently sanitize user-supplied input.

Exploiting this issue allows attackers to delete arbitrary files within the context of the current working directory.

The following versions are affected:

Tomcat 5.5.0 through 5.5.28
Tomcat 6.0.0 through 6.0.20

"
Apache Tomcat 'Hash Parameter' Vulnerability	8080	tcp	"DESCRIPTION
A vulnerability has been discovered in Apache Tomcat 5.x before 5.5.35, 6.x before 6.0.35, and 7.x before 7.0.23, via a hash table collision scenario. This may allow an attacker to cause a denial of service condition by sending multiple crafted parameters.

"
Apache Tomcat Directory Host Appbase Authentication Bypass Vulnerability	8080	tcp	"DESCRIPTION
Apache Tomcat is prone to an authentication-bypass vulnerability.

An attacker can gain unauthorized access to files and directories. Successful exploits may lead to other attacks.

This issue affects the following:

Tomcat 5.5.0 through 5.5.28
Tomcat 6.0.0 through 6.0.20

"
Apache Tomcat Digest Authentication Replay Vulnerability	8080	tcp	"DESCRIPTION
A vulnerability has been discovered in Apache Tomcat 5.5.x before 5.5.34, 6.x before 6.0.33, and 7.x before 7.0.12.

These versions do not have the expected countermeasures against replay attacks, allowing attackers to bypass access restrictions via sniffing valid authenticated traffic.

"
Apache Tomcat Digest Authentication 'realm value' Input Validation Vulnerability	8080	tcp	"DESCRIPTION
A vulnerability has been discovered in Apache Tomcat 5.5.x before 5.5.34, 6.x before 6.0.33, and 7.x before 7.0.12. This may allow a remote attacker to bypass intended access control mechanisms via an unsanitized 'realm' value by using authentication from another realm with weaker credential requirements.

"
Apache Tomcat 'APR Connection SSL Request Duplication' vulnerability	8080	tcp	"DESCRIPTION
Apache Tomcat is subject to a vulnerability that causes it to handle a duplicate copy of recent requests when using the native (APR-based) connector. The vulnerability can be triggered by connecting to the SSL port using netcat and then disconnecting without sending any data.

"
Apache Tomcat AJP Protocol Security Bypass Vulnerability	8080	tcp	"DESCRIPTION
Apache Tomcat is prone to a security-bypass vulnerability which causes information disclosure.

Successful exploits will allow attackers to bypass certain security restrictions, and obtain sensitive information.

Versions 7.0.0 through 7.0.20, 6.0.0 through 6.0.33, 5.5.0 through 5.5.33 are affected.

Hi,

There are several things you could check:

1. System/Session manager is not supported in PVM, so any function related them will not be provided in Prognosis.

2. PVM does support Voice Stream Displays, and you need to setup the PBX to forward RTCP data to Prognosis. The procedure to set this up is covered in the documentation.

Feel free to let me know if it still doesn't work.

Thanks and Regards,

I newly installed Prognosis on an Avaya Aura 6.1 installation with 100 sip phones registered to Avaya Aura session manager. These are off pbx phones. I don't get any data display on the voice quality display screen. I have configured everything from the installation documents except the CDR Service.
What is wrong with my settings?

Hi,

Right, Tomcat is part of PROGNOSIS installation. You could find it under the folder %PROGNOSIS%\www\webserver\tomcat

As it is a third party web server, more details regarding the vulnerabilities may help us identify whether it is a PROGNOSIS issue.

Thank you,

Hi,

The Avaya Voice Stream Details display is described in the Help menu under Data Displays; however, it currently does not go into the level of detail that would answer your questions, so your best source of information would be this forum.

In general, information you see on this display is read directly from the RTCP packets associated with the call. This includes the Class, Encryption, and Tools fields.

The Class field refers to the Differentiated Services (DiffServ) traffic class. So EF(46) means Expedited Forwarding, which is designated with codepoint 46 in RFC 3246, while Default (0) means best-effort forwarding behavior and has a codepoint of 0 as per RFC 2474. A blank value simply means that the information is not available in the packet.

The Tool field presents information read from the TOOL field in the Source Description (SDES) packet. You may see different types of information here since Prognosis does not have control over the information included here by the packet sender. It simply reads this field and presents it.

Note that you may find more information on the web about the information on this display. Here are two examples:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diffserv
http://www.freesoft.org/CIE/RFC/1889/29.htm

Let us know if you need more information.

where can i find a detailed description of all of the items contained in the Voice Stream Summary? Specifically, where does prognosis get the Class and Encription? What does EF(46), Default and blank mean under the Class heading?
How does Prognosis identify the Tool category? I see all different types of information in this area.
Thank you.

Hi Stu,

Both of the features you mentioned are not supported in our Prognosis VoIP Monitor. They are, however, supported in the full Prognosis for IP Telephony Manager. See http://voicequality.com/compare for details.

Should you require this, feel free to contact one of our resellers at http://voicequality.com/resellers/

Does anybody know if you can export the stream data to an external soure? and how?

Also when you search on finished streams for a spceific extension it only has data for the previous 24 hours. Is is possible to go beyong this 24 Hour limit?

Cheers

Dear Terry,

Yes, that is because most of our developers and testers have their hands full preparing for the next release which is due very soon.

As there may be potential code change, I'm afraid I cannot point out a possible workaround for your current problem at this point in time. If anything comes up before a formal fix is done, I'll be sure to let you know.

Kind Regards,

Hi Crous,

Having talked to one of our testers, I can assure you that Prognosis real-time monitoring does not affect your call quality. Prognosis will occupy a certain amount of resources during start up but will be fairly stable afterwards. Your customer may have other systems/applications running that have more impact to the call quality, such as an anti-virus that is scanning through each call.

Hope that helps,
The Prognosis Support Team

Thanks for that. My actual question is - is it at all possible that Prognosis VOIP monitor can cause performance degradation resulting in VOIP issues? I realize it is a monitoring tool but could it perhaps "slow down" PBX processes due to all the realtime reporting/monitoring data being processed? The customer seems to believe that the VOIP qualtiy issues experienced can be linked to the PC running Prognosis.

Hi Crous,

Prognosis is a software that monitors voice quality, availability and voip performance in real-time.
Prognosis may even help you identify your VOIP quality issues (see http://voicequality.com/preview).

The documentation is available at http://voicequality.com/download.
